FAB News – November 2017

What a great start to the year!

At the end of September the school hosted Well Being Week. From recycling surveys in the playground to taking over Bonneville Gardens (which was closed to traffic for the day), the children learned all about sustainable living, protecting the environment and staying healthy. Not so healthy was the FAB cake sale and cafe as part of the final day, which, thanks to your contributions and purchases, made a massive £413 for the school!

In October we hosted an Autumn Social night for parents to get together over drinks and nibbles and chat about all the things they never have time to discuss in the playground. And just last week we had our first of two annual quiz nights, which was another roaring success and a huge amount of fun. We raised £1300, which will be added to the coffers and put towards those things FAB pays for every year that you may not realise, including:

  • subsidising school trips by £10 per child each year
  • funding the year 6 leavers book and disco
  • entertainment for international night
  • contributions to tools and supplies for Forest School

To get everyone in a festive mood, we are hosting a decoration workshop on 30th November. Details to follow soon.

Sponsored by Aspire, our Winter Fair is near! Please come along on the 9th December from 12pm to 3pm to enjoy food, music, craft stalls and Santa’s grotto, and help to raise funds towards our big fundraising target for the year – a complete overhaul of the year 3 & 4 playgrounds as part of the Playgrounds Project that the school has prioritised. Watch out for the poster soon, which will be chosen from one of the designs the children submit as part of the poster competition.
